Greeting
of the Rector
Our
University, a member of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is
a successful conjoining of the School of Basic Science
(established in 1951) and the University of Hanoi (established in
1956). It is now a vital center of training and research in the
basic sciences, as well as in the uses of applied technology.
Presently,
the student body of the University is over 10,000. Our staff nears
700 members, including 75 professors and 137 associate professors.
Of this number 305 have a Dr. Sc or PhD degree. The strength of
this staff will allow us to continue to grow, training potential
leaders in their fields, and leading to advanced study both here
and aboard. We have the responsibility to foster a learning
environment here that will enable these efforts.
As
the principal basic science university in the nation, I know that
our tradition of excellence will be continued successfully in the
future. We are on the threshold of higher achievements in
technology, and this institution will be ready to meet the new
challenges this will bring.
