The Center's activities concentrate mainly on fundamental research fields of Marine eco-hydrodynamics, Coastal environmental engineering, Marine resource and environmental management and its applications. 

Research activities:

- Marine Eco-Hydrodynamic Modeling and Predictions.

- Ecology, Resources and Environment of the Coastal Zone.

- Marine Environmental Engineering and Marine Research Technology.

Research Facilities:

-    High Performance Numerical Computations and Software Development Laboratory (IBM/RS600, SUN/Ultra 80 workstations and networked PC system).

- Modern Marine Geo-hydrodynamic and Environmental Equipments (sediment Transport Autonomous Recorder, Memory-Type Current Meter, Dual Frequency EchoSounder, DREL/2010 Advanced Water Quality Laboratory).

- South China Sea Ocean Database
